RULES FOR MEMBERS USING THE IWLA PARK (2008) (Rules approved Feb. 7, 2008)
1. The Board of Directors will meet the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. (all members welcome to attend but only board members may vote). Regular club meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. (all members are urged to attend some of the club meetings; this is your club!). 2. Unruly or vulgar behavior prohibited. 3. Do no exceed 15 mph on road; no parking on dam. DO NOT BLOCK THE ROAD AT ANY TIME. 4. NO HUNTING ON PROPERTY. 5. All members are responsible for helping keep the club property and buildings clean. Pick up trash at the fishing ponds and the shooting ranges. Donate your time, supplies, etc. on workdays. This helps keep our dues low. 6. There are two caretakers at the park. They have been instructed by the Board of Directors to check membership cards. All members are required to wear their cards in a badge holder visible to others. Members should also check for membership cards (our property is posted for non-members). Dependent's cards are available if needed for spouse, children (living at home under 18 years old), and students living at home until age 21. 7. Dues of the club will be established each year. The dues for 2008 will be $75.00 per member and family (dependents as outlined above). The fee to join the club is $100.00 for full membership ($75.00 dues + $25.00 initiation fee). Dues are payable before the first of the year (calendar year dues) or a member will lose rights to use the club after DECEMBER 31st. If a member does not pay dues by MARCH 31st, they will be dropped from the mailing-membership list (they would have to apply again as a new member and pay $100.00 to be an active member). The Board of Directors sets dues for the up-coming year in August. 8. All non-members must obtain permission to use the club property from the secretary, caretakers or the president's appointed representatives to schedule activities. The clubhouse will be kept locked. Keys are available only from the officers, the members of the board, and the caretakers. Charges for the use of the park by non-members are: (a) Grounds only--$40.00; (b) House and grounds--$75.00; (c) Non-profit organizations may use the park free of charge at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Members can use the park free of charge but should donate money to pay for electricity, etc. Members may enjoy overnight camping (check with caretakers for location for camping and to be sure their activities do not interfere with other uses of the park.)
CAUTION MUST BE EXERCISED AT ALL TIMES. THE CHRISTIANSBURG-MONTGOMERY COUNTY CHAPTER OF THE IZAAK WALTON LEAGUE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENTS OR LOSSES WHILE YOU ARE USING THE PARK. ALL MEMBERS AND VISITORS USE THE PARK AND IT'S FACILITIES AT THEIR OWN RISK. ANY MEMBERS VIOLATING CLUB RULES WILL BE BROUGHT BEFORE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR PROPER ACTION.
FISHING RULES 1. The two ponds may be used by members and dependents. Members may bring ONE GUEST PER YEAR (ONE TIME ONLY); DEPENDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING GUEST! 2. Fishing rules are the same as State Game Commission. Fishing is allowed from a half hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Members must sign in and log the number of trout and catfish caught when leaving (sign-in sheets located at both ponds). 3. A limit of 4 trout per day per membership and 25 trout per year for each membership. Fish caught by dependents and guest count against the members limit of 25 trout per year. Members may pay an additional $25.00 to allow them to fish for an additional 12 trout per year. All trout caught must be kept (no catch and release). Other fish such as catfish, bluegills, etc. can be released. There is a window for keeping catfish---you can keep catfish from 15-20 inches, anything under or over has to be released---you can keep two catfish/day with no yearly limit. 4. ONLY ONE POLE MAY BE USED AND MUST BE ATTENDED BY THE MEMBER. EACH FISHERMAN MUST HAVE A STRINGER AND STRING ONLY FOR THEIR FISH. No live bait (such as minnows, crawfish, frogs, etc.) can be used to fish; however, crickets, worms, grasshoppers, corn, power-bait, and artificial lures are allowed. 5. The caretakers and members are asked to check membership (card in badge holder visible to all) of persons fishing and report any fishing violations. GUN AND TRAP RANGE RULES

Help maintain the shooting ranges; bring your weed-eater to cut weeds, pick up trash, replace wire on target frames, etc. 5. The Izaak Walton Gun Club has open trap-shoots on Wednesdays from 5-8pm. Bring your shotgun and try your hand at shooting clay birds! Registered trap shoots on the upper range are scheduled on the fourth Sunday of each month and on some other Sundays (see your yearly calendar). The upper range is reserved at these times. (you can shoot at the pistol range in the chestnut orchard) 6. Additional special shoots are held at the upper range such as the groundhog shoots, IPSC (combat pistol shooting), 4H shooting sports day, Boy Scouts, National Guard, sight-in-day for hunting season, etc. The Va. Tech Clay Target Team has the upper range reserved for practice on Fridays during the academic year from 3-7pm. These events are scheduled on the yearly calendar or announced in the newsletter or posted on signs going up to the range. These scheduled shoots have priority on the use of the range. 7.
