Shooting Range Events (Upper Range Reserved)

Spring & Fall 2010

 

         ATA Registered Trap Shoots (must be a member of ATA, can join at time of shoot), typically from 10am until late afternoon:  Jan. 24, Feb. 28, Mar. 28, April 11, April 25, May 9, May 23, June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct 24, Nov. 28, and Dec. 26.

           Open Trap Shoots (Everyone Welcome!) every Wed. afternoon from 5-8pm (range reserved from 4:30pm).  Grab your shotgun and try trap shooting at only $3.00 per round (25 targets)!!!  Plenty of people to help you out.  If you would like to learn how to shoot Trap, contact Tom Sitz (tositz@vt.edu; 231-4970, work; or 951-7332, home) for free lessons with one of our members.

           Va. Tech Clay Target Team, practice on Fridays from 3pm until about 7pm during Tech’s academic year from Sept. through the end of April. 

           Action Pistol Shoots on the 3^rd Saturday (9am-1pm) of every month beginning March 20^th and ending in November.  Each month competitors will have a variety of stages to challenge their skills.  Shooters must bring along a holster to draw from and be prepared to fire up to 100 rounds of ammunition to complete the course. 

           Silhouette Shoots will continue to be held on every 3^rd Saturday of the month year round.  This year, in addition to the rimfire rifle and handgun classes, we will introduce a centerfire handgun category.  Only lead projectiles are allowed in this competition.

Depending on time and interest, there may also be other types of shoots (fly shoot, two gun shoot, etc.) scheduled during this time slot. All participants and spectators will be required to have eye and ear protection.
