The Blacksburg Host Lions participate in several projects to raise funds for the support of worthy causes in the community and the nation. Every dollar raised in these projects goes to support the Club's service activities.
White-Cane Days: This solicitation is held twice annually (Fall and Spring) at area stores.
The 2007 Fall White Cane Days will be held October 18-19, 2007.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Blind-Products Sale: Items for sale include brooms, mops, and light bulbs. They are now available throughout the year at two local businesses. THE DOOR-TO-DOOR SALES ACTIVITY WAS DISCONTINUED AFTER SPRING 1999. For current prices and information on where to buy Lions products, see Blind Products.
Eye Seal Campaign: This mail solicitation is usually made in the Easter season.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Walk-a-Thon: The Lions Walk-a-Thon event is held each September, and features sponsored walkers taking a stroll around a prescribed course on the Virginia Tech campus. Pets are welcome, if on a leash. The proceeds go towards funding training of a Leader Dog for the Blind and other Lions projects. Both Blacksburg Lions Clubs, the Virginia Tech Delta Gamma Sorority, and many local businesses combine resources to make the event a safe and fun outdoor experience for all involved.
The Lions 2007 Walk-a-Thon was held September 8.
