What is NARFE ?

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association is a federated organization of active and retired federal employees with local chapters throughout the country. The New River Valley Chapter of NARFE (Chapter #1134) has members from the counties of Montgomery, Floyd, Carroll, Grayson, Pulaski, Craig and the City of Radford.

Membership is open to any person who is or will be eligible to receive an annuity or a survivor annuity from any of the federal civilian retirement programs of any agency of the U. S. government. These persons may be: current employees, retirees, former employees, spouses and surviving spouses of those eligible to join NARFE and former spouses who are legally eligible for a federal or survivor annuity.

Meetings and Membership

When We Meet
The New River Valley Chapter meetings are held at the Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill at First & Main Shopping Center, 1470 South Main St., Blacksburg VA on the second Thursday of January, March, May, September, and November. All meetings start with a social at 10:00 a.m. followed by the business meeting at 10.30 a.m. A July summer social is held at a time and place to be announced.
Regular meeting of the Board of Directors are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on the second Thursday of February, April, June, August, October and December.

How to Join
When you enroll in NARFE, you join the National Association and the chapter nearest your home or another chapter of your choice. You may transfer to a different chapter at any time. The first year membership fee for retirees or individuals still employed is $45.00. Convenient payment of annual dues is available through dues withholding. The New River Chapter of NARFE invites eligible persons to join or transfer to our chapter. If you would like more information please contact:
