Position: Director of Christian Education

Purpose: To coordinate and enhance the Christian Education (CE) program for young people (ages 4-18) and adults at Northside Presbyterian Church (PCUSA). The CE Director will work closely with and take guidance from the minister and CE Committee. The CE Director will take a leadership/facilitative role in implementing the adult and children's church school program and Youth Group(s).

Duties: Assist pastor and CE Committee in evaluating and implementing church school program (both structure and content) in light of current and anticipated educational needs of the Northside Presbyterian Church community.

Together with the Christian Education Committee and pastor, this person will work to:

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Christian Education, OR similar experience and knowledge of methods in Christian Education. Experience in working effectively with children and adult church members toward a common purpose is also required. Demonstrated team building and planning skills are required. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and supportive of Presbyterian/Reformed theological doctrine and Presbyterian polity.

Hours: This is a part-time 10 months position (mid August-mid June). The Director of Christian Education will be present during openings, church school, and as needed for youth group activities. The Director will also attend Christian Education Committee meetings and events, LOGOS (or other) midweek church school activity. The position is funded for 15 hours per week for 40 weeks. The exact number of hours worked per week will vary according to program activities.

Possible time commitment expected (approximately 10-20 hours per week):

Sundays 9:00 am - 12:00 noon (Sunday school and worship)3 hours

Pay: $15.00/hour for a maximum of 600 hours per year.
