Welcome by Garland. Please
attend the Executive Board meetings,
you are most welcome. Next Executive meeting April 9,
2nd Wednesday, 6 pm,
Christiansburg Rescue Hall, 2nd
floor conf. room
These meetings are a great way
to learn more about the NRV MG Association.
Another way is to join a committee(s).
One of the committees needing assistance is the Plant Clinic committee. Coordinator Meg Whelton
explained her role and asked for assistance organizing members to
volunteer for plant clinics.
Another committee needing help is the School Grant committee, which needs to have the application revamped with criteria
specified of what is funded and what items will not be funded,
Discussion from the Executive Board meeting; School Grants: Garland addressed the School Grants - he agrees that signage should be on all NRVMGA projects. The School Grants should have an Educational
component, photos, documentation, MG
Mentors.. The application needs more
criteria and list of items that will not be funded. Also to design/write the newspaper ad.
Audit: Bill
Martin he
will be reviewing the bylaws, if
interested in helping Bill, please contact him.
Bill accepted
membership forms and fees.
Barry explained that we are all VCE Master Gardeners, and
we have an option of being in the NRVMGAssociation. And listed some
volunteer activities that he will email us more information about. Health Fair,, Tree planting,, transplanting , for example.
Program:
Elizabeth Gilboy; explained
a new program just being organized for
Rain Barrels in Blacksburg, workshops will be held for homeowners in the Stoubles Creek
watershed. Workshops will be held April
19 and May 3. Many of our MGers are
interested in being guineapigs at a
dry run workshop March 29. The presenters need to learn the steps to
make wash out pickle barrels or pepsi barrels,
to create rainbarrels, so they can teach the official workshops with
less hitches.

Gwen Ewing
NRVMGA Secretary
