Project Descriptions:

Auburn Middle School agriscience curriculum garden project (NRVMGA Grant Funded Project)

Project Update (Nov. 2009):

Pepper Raines, teacher at Auburn Middle has indicated that the outdoor portion of the garden renovation project is done for the fall. Volunteers helped with plant ID in early October and the students in her Horticulture/Ag class moved the plants to a holding area. The school grounds crew mowed down all the weeds in the garden for us two weeks ago. They said they are willing to come in the spring and spray for us to kill the weeds for next year.

If any of the master gardeners want to come and present a lesson to her class that would be great. It can be on selecting plants, organic gardening, control of weeds, pesticide safely, composting, fall garden crops, for meeting the purposes of the project goals. This project is funded by a grant from the NRVMGA- your association money at work in the community!

Please contact Pepper at praines@mcps.org or by calling her at 540-382-5165 to schedule a time to make a class presentation!

You may also contact MG Maureen Fallon for more information at 392-1581(c), 381-1371(h), or mofallon56@gmail.com.
