Swing "Swaps"
Swing dances to recorded music ("swing swaps") are held every Tuesday and Friday as hosts are available. The dances run from 7:30 to 10:00 PM. Beginners are always welcome. These are informal dances with a very relaxed atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to ask others for help. Usually, there are people with a wide variety of skill levels from novice to experienced dancers. This is a great place to start learning if you are a beginner. I have learned some of my best steps at these dances by asking someone, "How do you do that?"
A nominal fee of $5 ($3 for members) covers the cost of the room. We also have other options available. Check out the members page. Please help us out by bringing any dance music (CD's or tapes) that you particularly like. Dress is very casual. You do not need a partner to come.
Workshops and Classes
The SVSDS does not have any set schedule to provide workshops or classes. However, we will try to fill your needs for learning new dances. If you want to see a class on any particular type of dance, just let us know. We'll do our best!
