Why have membership? Is costs lots of money to put on dances and swing swaps, to print and mail newsletters and fliers, and especially to hire bands. Even when we cover our expenses with entry fees, there is never enough money up front to rent a room for a dance, much less to hire a band. At one time in the past, two people had to pay for all up-front costs out of their own pockets.
Membership is simple. We would like as many people as possible to become Official Members of the Southwest Virginia Social Dance Society to generate working capital. It costs a mere $15 per year or $10 a semester. Members receive discounts on dances and workshops. They also know that they are helping to keep this thing swinging.
You can become a member at any SVSDS event by paying $15/$10 at the door. Members receive at least $2 off any dance, often more off the workshops. Bigger discounts will be given for more expensive events. And SVSDS and Solely Swing have joint membership: so by joining one, you support both organizations!
