Some Swing Background

 In January of 1999, the Southwest Virginia Social Dance Society incorporated as SVSDS Inc. The corporate board of directors is elected by the Steering Committee. The members of the Steering Committee find the places to dance, hire teachers and bands, prepare the halls for dancing, and publicize the dances. If you want to be on the Steering Committee, contact Steve Shaffer. New committee members are always welcome.

Solely Swing (the student chapter)

Thanks to Shari Feth, Solely Swing, a Student Chapter of the Southwest Virginia Social Dance Society, was established. The purpose of the chapter is to promote swing dancing and instruction on campus and to hold dances and workshops in conjunction with SVSDS. Student interest has been overwhelming: More than 60 students attended the beginning class before the first Student Chapter Dance in Squires. More than 100 people attended the dance.
